Couple Activities

Team Mom The goal of the Family Expectations couple activities and support groups is to empower couples to succeed as parents and partners, and make significant positive contributions in their children’s lives. Listed below are some of the extended activities that are offered to program participants.

There is no doubt that being a mom is tough job. It’s nice to have someone on your side that can relate to what you are going through. The mom support group helps you manage the many pressures of parenting and focuses on several different topics including:

  • Organizing your Home & Life
  • “You” Time
  • Family Time
  • Healthy Meals on a Budget
  • Stress Management

New topics are added regularly, based on feedback from participants.

Boot Camp for new dads

New dads are paired with veteran dads and help new dads learn skills to care for their baby, answer questions and address any fears about becoming a father. Veteran dads get to share their fatherhood experiences and the new dads get real, hands-on practice.

Team DaddDad supports groups focus on helping fathers understand their unique role in their child's life. Ideas are provided on how you can connect with your kids and be more involved in your family. For example, dads are encouraged to tell their story to their kids. Dads’ storytelling is designed to help dads organize their life’s events, successes, challenges, relationships, thoughts, decisions and feelings into a story for their children. Each story is videoed and put on a DVD as a keepsake. Stories are told using plain talk, rapping, singing, drawing, or any combination.

Other discussion topics include understanding the importance of commitment, expressing gratitude as a building block of happiness, carefully considering the role discipline takes in your household. New topics are added on a regular basis.
